It's relatively easy to make your own diamonds with three common household items: a microwave, grill charcoal, and peanut butter. Think we're joking? Try this experiment (albeit carefully) yourself!
First you'll need to find a single Pyrex cooking dish. Make sure the dish comes with its own lid. Next, find two pieces of charcoal. The charcoal/grill briquet's you toss on the grill for BBQ will suffice. Cover each piece of charcoal with four ounces of peanut butter. The quality of peanut butter is not important. We prefer chunky. Microwave this crazy mixture on high for sixty minutes. Be advised, larger diamonds will form if you pause the microwave every ten minutes for approximately 15 seconds.
Once your hot potatoes are cool enough to pick up, take the whole Pyrex cooking dish outdoors and toss on an unlit grill. Uncover your creation carefully. Saturate the peanut butter charcoal mixture with lighter fluid. Set the charcoal ablaze. As the excess carbon burns to ash, diamonds will form.
When the whole mixture has been reduced to grey soot, scrape the powder into a dark-coloured. Wash gently. The unwanted ash will slowly filter out, leaving the diamonds produced from the experiment.
Always perform this experiment outdoors.
